Self-Reflection
Producing "Reinventing Myself at 65" challenged me to merge technical skills with deeply personal storytelling. While I successfully translated my multidisciplinary career into a cohesive narrative, the process revealed areas for growth. Structuring the documentary as a self-portrait demanded rigorous self-interrogation—balancing vulnerability with professionalism was harder than anticipated. The archival montages effectively contrasted past and present, though sourcing high-resolution scans of 1970s photos proved time-consuming.
Technically, mastering Premiere Pro’s multi-camera sequencing elevated my editing, but sound mixing remained a weakness; some dialogue clips required excessive noise reduction. The solo production model taught me resourcefulness (e.g., using AI tools for B-roll), yet limited feedback during filming led to reshoots of the LCD reflection shot.
For future projects, I’d allocate more time for audio tests and seek peer reviews earlier. This experience affirmed that storytelling transcends age—I now see my engineering precision as an asset in framing cinematic sequences. The project’s greatest success? Proving that reinvention is a creative act, not just a career shift.
